# Alerts on script conditions

Ask Tori to tell you when something happens on a chart, such as RSI crossing above 70. etoro checks the condition at every bar close and notifies you, even with Edge closed.

The first condition, EMA 20 crosses above EMA 50, reads Alert on · 1 hour · Recurring, with Pause. The second, EMA 20 crosses below EMA 50, has its form open: Check on 1 hour, Recurring switched on, Set alert and Cancel. ## What it is

A condition alert tells you when something happens on a chart, such as RSI crossing above 70 or one moving average crossing another. You describe it to Tori, which writes the condition as a script, puts it on your chart and offers the alert. Nothing is set until you press **Set alert**. etoro then checks the condition at the close of every bar you chose, and notifies you in Edge and in the etoro app, even when Edge is closed.

Reach for one when what you are waiting for is not a price: an indicator reaching a level, two lines crossing, or a signal you would otherwise keep checking the chart for.

You set condition alerts from a chart, and the Alerts widget lists them all.

## How to use it

1. Open a Chart widget on the instrument the alert is for.

2. Open the chart's ⋮ menu at the top right and choose **Set alert**, or click the bell beside it. Choose the **Condition** tab, next to **Simple** and **Ladder**. It lists the conditions of your own scripts on the chart, not of its built-in indicators, each with its alert or **Set alert**.

3. For a condition the chart does not have yet, describe it in the box at the bottom, for example “RSI crosses above 70”, and choose **Ask Tori**.

4. You can also choose **Edit with Tori** in the same menu and ask in your own words, such as “Alert me every time the 20 EMA crosses the 50 EMA on the 1-hour bars”.

5. Tori writes the condition as a script, puts it on the chart and says what it does. Under its answer, it offers the alert: **Check on** sets the bars it checks, from 1 minute to 1 week, and **Recurring** makes it fire each time the condition turns true, not only the first time. Tori fills both in from your words: the chart's own bars unless you named others, and Recurring only when you asked to hear every time.

6. Press **Set alert** in that offer, not in the script's card above it, which starts on the chart's own bars. The condition then reads Alert on, with its bars and **Pause**. The chart's **Condition** tab shows the same, and the script's **How it works** in the Scripts widget shows it with its instrument.

7. The Alerts widget lists every condition alert on its **Conditions** tab, with its instrument, its state and when it last fired. **Pause**, **Turn on** and ✕ act on it there. The tab appears once you have a condition alert.

## Good to know

- An alert is checked when a bar closes, not while it forms: a condition that turns true and back again within one bar does not fire it. Without **Recurring**, an alert fires once and stops, and **Set again** turns it back on.
- Your notification settings for price alerts in etoro decide which of these notifications you get.
- Only a condition that reads its own instrument's bars can have an alert. A strategy, or a script that reads your account, another instrument or another timeframe, says why under its conditions instead of offering **Set alert**.
- An alert keeps the version of the script you set it on, with the settings the script has on your chart. When you change the script, the condition says the alert was set on an earlier version, and **Update** moves an alert that is on to the version shown.
- Condition alerts take the place of the Advanced alerts, which ran in your browser. The Alerts widget lists any still saved in your browser, each with **Ask Tori** to set it up again.
