# Scripts: indicators Tori writes for you

Describe the indicator you want in your own words. Tori writes it as a script, puts it on your chart and tells you what it found there.

## What it is

Scripts are indicators you describe in your own words. Tori writes the script, puts it on your chart and tells you what it found there, such as how many bars it marked and when it last did. You do not have to write any code.

Reach for a script when the indicator you want is not one of the built-in ones: a condition you watch for, a level you would otherwise draw by hand, or a cloud between two moving averages that turns green or red with the trend. You see what it marks on the chart you already use, change it by asking, and can go back to an earlier version.

Your scripts are kept in My scripts, a section of every chart's Indicators, and in the Scripts widget. Scripts are in beta.

## How to use it

1. Choose **Indicators** in the toolbar at the top of the chart.

2. Type what you want the indicator to show, for example “a cloud between the 9 and 21 EMA, green when the 9 is above and red when it is below, with arrows where they cross”. When no indicator matches, the search offers to create it with Tori. Choose **Create with Tori**.

![The Indicators search for a phrase no built-in indicator matches: the closest built-in indicators, then No built-in, Create it with Tori?, with Create with Tori and Have the code? Import it.](https://edge.etoro.com/_next/static/media/create.0j3q5zh3gn3_3.webp?dpl=0ff0daf0-36a2-4b1a-aad9-67b88e20cb35)

3. Tori opens with a message made from your words, and nothing is sent until you send it. Change the message if you like, then press Enter. Tori also offers ideas to start from: picking one puts it in the message, so you can change it before Tori writes anything.

4. Tori writes the script, adds it to My scripts and puts it on the chart. Its reply ends with a card that says what the script found on the bars in view, such as how many it marked and when it last did, with the script's settings and **Undo**, which takes that turn back. For a new script, that removes it from My scripts and from the chart.

5. To change the script, ask Tori in the same conversation, or choose **Edit with Tori** for the script in My scripts or in the Scripts widget, and describe the change. Each change Tori makes is saved as a new version.

6. To read a script, select it in the Scripts widget: **How it works** explains what it shows, when it updates and which settings it has. **Code** shows the script itself, and **Versions** lists every version, with **Restore** to make an earlier one current again.

## Good to know

- A script you made is in **My scripts** in any chart's Indicators. Adding it from there puts it on that chart like any other indicator.
- Restoring an earlier version switches the charts that use the script to it. The newer versions stay in the history, so you can come back to them.
- You can also bring in a script written for another platform. **Import**, under My scripts and in the Scripts widget, takes pasted code or a file and checks it, and nothing is saved until you add it.
- A script runs on your chart while Edge is open. A script can include an alert condition, but scripts do not send notifications yet.
- Scripts are in beta, as the **Beta** tag next to their name says. They are still changing, so a script may behave differently after an update.
